Why Upgrade?

Even if your computer's not actually "broken," it's likely that you can breathe new life into your older machine through carefully selected upgrades.

Take RAM (Random Access Memory), for example. A few years ago, RAM was very expensive. Consequently, many new computers were sent to market with wimpy amounts of RAM, causing computers to slow down, freeze, or even crash when they run out of memory. Adding RAM delivers more bang for the buck than almost any other hardware upgrade.

Adding a DVD-RW drive is another popular upgrade. With a DVD-RW (or DVD burner, as they are often called), you can make DVD's or music CD's, backup your data, free up extra space on your hard drive, or even create inexpensive digital photo albums to give to family members and friends. A single DVD disk can hold thousands of digital photographs.

Maybe you are considering a new printer, camera, scanner, or other peripheral device. Many new peripherals use either the new USB 2 interface or the Firewire Interface. But the chances are that your computer doesn't have either of these interfaces unless it it very new. Not to worry, though. In most cases, we can upgrade your not-so-new computer to enable it to support these new standards, opening up the doors to a whole new world of exciting accessories.
